Campus Ethos

The Visvodaya society was founded in 1952 not only to upgrade the existing intermediate college but also to expand educational and social service activities. The society adopted the motto ‘Tamasoma Jyothirgamaya’ and fixed its goals as academic excellence, Social Justice, Cultural richness, democratic thinking, humanism and the development of human personality. Kavali College was rechristened as Jawahar Bharati in 1965 with Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Vice president of India as the Chief Guest. It was a sort of tribute paid to Pundit Nehru by Visvodaya.

At present Visvodaya manages the following:
1. L.K.R. Visvodaya Boys’ High School
2. S.S.C. Visvodaya Girls’ High School
3. P.H.R. Jawahar Bharati Junior College
4. Jawahar Bharati Degree & P.G. College
5. P.B.R. Visvodaya Institute of Technology and Science
6. Visvodaya Engineering College
7. Dr. Ram Centre for Social Work and Culture
8. Dr. D.R. Visvodaya Seva Samithi
To facilitate the stay of the poor and the weak people on the campus, the society runs one general hostel and one social welfare hostel. To encourage women’s education special efforts were made in founding a hostel for women (Smt. Durgabai Deshmukh Visvodaya Hostel for Women) in which women students of Intermediate, Degree and P.G. are housed in separate wings.
