About Institution

The Kavali College, Nellore Dist was started in 1951 by the 'Visvodaya' society that came into being mainly through the driving dynamism of a young person, Sri Dodla Ramachandra Reddy. He was inspired by the philosophy of French liberal thoughts, ideals of Indian Freedom struggle and a deep commitment to the upliftment of the downtrodden masses. But the responsibility undertaken by the young, enthusiastic educationist was indeed very hard for the town Kavali was situated in a very backward, drought-prone area subject to harsh vicissitudes of nature. The number of students enrolled in the first year was a mere 92. However, the college received animated support from the local people who craved for an institution of higher learning in their town. Originally affiliated to the Andhra University, the institution was soon shifted to the newly established S. V. University, Tirupathi.
